Draw the perfect cruelty-free eyeliner

Anna Anna 09 Jun 2021 Draw the perfect cruelty-free eyeliner

Drawing the perfect eyeliner can be a struggle: you need a steady hand, some helpful instructions and the right cruelty-free makeup to work with. So here’s the deal. You focus on that hand, we give you the best tips for techniques and vegan products. We got this, babe.

How to draw the perfect cruelty-free eyeliner

Follow these four easy steps!

There’s only one thing in this world more difficult than rocket science. (OK, maybe right after finding a vegan boyfriend.) It’s drawing the perfect, straight eyeliner - and then another one. Having been an admirer of his skills for quite some time, I asked wing master Bart to be our eyeliner coach for a day. Bart, can you please talk us through this?

Bart: I first ventured into wearing eyeliner about a year ago. I went from a modest line to a full wing, in the colours black, blue or red.

"To be honest, it wasn’t a pretty sight at first."

But after a lot of practice and a golden tip from TikTok, I have developed a handy technique for my daily wing. I’ll show you how to do it in four easy steps. Here we go!

Step 1. The very beginning: a horizontal line

You start the wing with a horizontal line from the tip of your eye towards the end of your eyebrow (see photo) depending on how sharp you want to make the wing.

Step 2. Keep it straight! (The eyeliner, that is)

Draw the second line from the center of your eyelid (so, above your pupil if you look forward) to the end of the first line. Draw the line as straight as possible! It can help to ‘tighten’ your eyelid with your other hand (see photo).

Step 3: Fill me in

Fill the created space between the two lines with eyeliner. Make sure your wing is completely filled.

Step 4: Spread your wings and fly

For the finishing touch (or better: the wing on the line), draw a thin line at the end of your wing with the thinnest tip of the eyeliner. The sharper the better.

"And remember, practice makes perfect!"
